• Mechanisms and Trajectories

The Mechanisms and Trajectories theme focuses on bridging critical gaps in the understanding of pain mechanisms and related phenomena. It aims to uncover the reasons behind individual differences in pain perception and recovery from injury. Through high-impact, discovery-driven research, we seek to advance knowledge of nociception and pain, addressing key questions on why some individuals experience swift recovery while others endure prolonged or chronic pain.
  • Knowledge Translation, Education and Implementation

The Knowledge Translation, Education and Implementation theme aims to ensure our work has a significant impact, including by enhancing education programs at UQ through knowledge translation and implementation science.
  • Innovative Clinical Trials

The innovative clinical trials theme's goal is to conduct high-priority clinical trials utilizing cutting-edge methodologies to evaluate treatments, care models, and preventive strategies aimed at reducing pain and preserving function. By implementing advanced trial designs and leveraging the latest technologies, we strive to accelerate the development of effective interventions, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes and quality of life.
  • Innovation in Treatment and Prevention

The Innovation in Treatment and Prevention theme aims to discover and refine pain treatments, evaluate their efficacy, and develop strategies to prevent pain, injury, and functional decline. This includes drug discovery, translation of drug discoveries, development of conservative interventions, and comprehensive programs to maintain performance and health.
  • Centre for Innovation in Pain and Health Research (CIPHeR)

CIPHeR is a multidisciplinary alliance of global leaders in pain research, uniting groups of pain researchers across UQ to work collaboratively toward the single end of cracking the code on pain. The Centre is nation-leading in its diversity and size, and the impact of its research.
