Master of Audiology - 2nd year

I am a final year Audiology student at the University of Queensland. When I began my Masters, I didn’t think I’d end up as a student representative. One of my classmates recommended me for the position, and then everyone else agreed that my co-representative and I would be the best choice. I was so surprised, and now I am so excited and honoured to represent my peers. I am learning so much about advocating for student needs and fostering positive changes within our academic community. My passion for improving the student experience grows with every new challenge. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns or queries to pass on to the committee. I am more than happy to help.

Jas is a first-year Master of Audiology student at UQ. He is Tamil by heritage and upbringing. He came to Australia as a refugee in 2013 without knowing any English. Since then, he has served on over multiple committees at Griffith University and continues to lead as the Founder and President of the Anatomy Society at Griffith. Now undertaking his postgraduate studies at UQ, he also serves on the Board of Studies (BoS) for HMBS and as a student council member for SHRS. He is passionate about finding innovative ways to transform teaching and learning, believing there is much more to education that has yet to be discovered. He is committed to exploring these possibilities alongside his peers and mentors. Above all, his life purpose is to serve vulnerable and underserved communities around the world in hearing health and congenital hearing loss. He believes everyone deserves the gift of hearing and that being part of a community of like-minded individuals will strengthen his current vision and lay the foundation for his greater mission.

Hi everyone! My name is Tully (she/her) and I am a third year speech pathology student. Before starting uni I had 4 gap years (yes 4) and during this time I worked at a summer camp in America teaching tennis, lived in Canada for a couple of years, backpacked NZ and also sailed across the Bass Strait from Hobart to Melbourne. All of these experiences led me here, studying speech path at UQ and I wouldn't change a thing! I've signed up to be student rep as I feel passionate about the speech pathology profession, and value the collaboration between students and faculty members to enhance courses and experiences. I am always up for a chat, so please feel free to reach out!

With a background as an English major and a strong interest in language rehabilitation, I’ve developed a passion for supporting communication in all forms - both in clinical practice and within the student community. As a second-year Master of Speech Pathology student at The University of Queensland, I’ve valued the opportunity to advocate for student needs through my role on the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences Student Council. I’m committed to representing our cohort and always welcome feedback - whether it’s about clinical placements, course experiences, or student supports. Please feel free to reach out via email to help shape a positive university experience for both current and future UQ students.

Hey! I’m Benjamin, a third-year international Physiotherapy student physio-ing at UQ. Leaving my country to start a new chapter in another has been a rollercoaster of challenging times and intense excitement. Looking back, I can proudly say that my university journey has been absolutely rewarding! My favourite part is that I’m carving this journey into lifelong memories alongside my wonderful peers who made my university life much more colourful than I imagined it could have been. I recognise the utmost privilege of being able to serve as the voice of my peers in pursuit of better changes. I want to advocate for changes that will reflect positively on all physiotherapy students. Just as we share laughter and joy, as your student representative, I would love for you to share your thoughts, concerns and suggestions to help create a fulfilling university experience at the heart of UQ Physiotherapy. So if something buzzes across your mind, please feel free to reach out at any time! I never bite, and I’m always happy to lend an ear!

Hi, I’m Dan is a second-year UQ GEMS student in the Master of Physiotherapy studies. Graduating from Griffith University on the Gold Coast with a Bachelor of Exercise Science in 2021 I have since aimed to work and travel around Australia and the world as much as possible diversify my skills and open my eyes to as many different cultures and experiences as possible. I’ve always had a passion for helping people, and I’ve tried to carry that same mindset into my role as a student representative. For me, it’s about getting to know my peers as individuals, understanding what drives them, being approachable, and creating friendships for honest conversations. Whether it’s sharing feedback, raising concerns, or just needing someone to chat or vent to, I want people to feel like they can reach out without hesitation.
