Researcher biography

Alana is a highly experienced Physiotherapist, Researcher and Lecturer at The University of Queensland. She has a strong clinical background in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, with experience spanning acute, chronic, orthopaedic and sporting populations. Alana has a special interest in physiotherapy management of cervical spine disorders, headaches and jaw disorders, and is an active member of the Neck and Head Research Unit (NAHRU) at The University of Queensland.

In 2019, Alana undertook a PhD investigating disability associated with persistent intra-articular temporomandibular disorders in adults. She has achieved numerous high-quality research outputs and has an increasing national and international research profile in temporomandibular disorders, clinical education, and inter-professional teaching and learning. Alana is experienced across a variety of research methodologies and paradigms, with a keen interest in knowledge translation across intra-professional, inter-professional, academic and industry settings.
