Foundations for practice educators (previously Interprofessional Introduction to Clinical Education Workshop)

The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS) offers a workshop addressing foundations of Practice Education. The workshop is presented in an interprofessional format.

This workshop is suitable for new educators currently engaged in or seeking to engage in the supervision of SHRS students or those who have not received any foundational education from previous workshops offered by The University of Queensland.

Examples of learning topics explored within the workshops include:

• Roles and relationships for learning
• Creating quality learning environments
• Facilitating learning processes
• Principles of assessment

The format of this session is interactive and participants can expect to leave with tips and tools to apply in their context.

Dates:

• Thursday 5 February 2026 (9am–4pm) - Delivered in-person at St Lucia only.

Profession-specific workshops

Each profession in SHRS offers workshops for clinical educators to provide information regarding the use and application of the specific assessment tools used to measure student performance on placement.

Profession specific workshops are usually held the day immediately following the Interprofessional Introduction to Clinical Education Workshop.

These workshops will be held at UQ's St Lucia campus.

Occupational therapy profession-specific workshops

Includes rating student performance using the Student Placement Evaluation Form - Revised (SPEF-R2) and facilitating student learning and clinical reasoning.

Dates:

There are no occupational therapy-specific workshops currently scheduled.

Physiotherapy profession-specific workshops

Includes rating student performance using the Assessment of Physiotherapy Practice (APP) instrument and assessing student performance.

Dates: 

• Wednesday 18 February 2026 (8:30am–4:30pm) - Delivered in-person at Griffith University at their Gold Coast Campus. Please email Taryn Jones taryn.jones@griffith.edu.au for further information and to register.

Speech pathology profession-specific workshops

Includes the use of COMPASS for student evaluation, development and overview of the COMPASS assessment tool, and practical experience in marking COMPASS.

Dates:

There are no speech pathology-specific workshops currently scheduled.

Beyond the basics (previously the Advanced workshops)

These workshops are aimed at experienced practice educators who are familiar with foundational principles of practice education.

The workshops are held at UQ's St Lucia campus.presented in an interprofessional format.

They are presented in an interprofessional, interactive format. Participants can expect to leave with tips and tools to apply in their context.

You may elect to attend the morning or afternoon session only or the entire day. 

Facilitating clinical reasoning in professional practice

• Tuesday 10 February 2026 (8:45am–12:15pm) - Delivered in-person at St Lucia only.

Supporting success – Inclusive strategies for practice educators

• Tuesday 10 February 2026 (1–4:30pm) - Delivered in-person at St Lucia only.
