QARC Open Day – for people with aphasia and family members (in person event)
QARC is a research centre of The University of Queensland.
QARC is dedicated to improving the lives of people living with aphasia.
We work in partnership with people with aphasia and their family members, clinicians, health services and key organisations.
It is the first centre of its kind in Australia.
QARC is based at the Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS) in Brisbane and partners with Metro North Health.
About the event
You are invited to come and meet the team and learn more about what we do, including:
Our Flagship Research Projects
The Co-design of aphasia services – A project that identified the top 7 priorities for services for people with aphasia in hospitals and healthcare settings.
The CHAT and TeleCHAT programs – An 8-week therapy program that can be done in person or online.
CHAT Partnership – A project to trial the CHAT program in hospitals and health services throughout Qld, NSW and Vic.
MEASuRES – Hear about our research on measuring outcomes in aphasia recovery. We want to make sure that outcomes are meaningful. This will help improve quality of services.
Bridging the Digital Divide – Hear about our research to design a tool to help people with aphasia use the internet. We will also tell you about tools that you can start using now.
AphasiaFit - Try the new AphasiaFit app. The app aims to help people with aphasia manage their therapy and track progress at home.
Neurobiological Predictors – A series of projects that look at changes in the brain and aphasia recovery. We look at aphasia after stroke and in people living with brain tumour and epilepsy, and after brain surgery.
Better Conversations About Care – Hear about our research to make communication a priority in aged care. We are designing a tool and a training package for aged care workers. The tool will support better conversations.
