Ten SHRS research projects have received financial support from the 2021 Metro South Health Research Support Scheme (MSH RSS).

The MSH RSS is administered by Metro South Research and aims to award excellence in research that translates research discoveries into health and medical outcomes.

SHRS Head of School, Professor Sandy Brauer, said the funding success was testament to UQ’s ongoing collaboration with Metro South Health.

“Our strong partnership with Metro South Health across multiple people and disciplines was highlighted with the announcement of the 2021 Metro South Research Support Scheme grants,” Professor Brauer said.

“This year was a highly competitive year — more so than normal — so it was fantastic to see SHRS scooping the pool and many of our projects supported.

“Special mention must go to Dr Emma Finch (Speech Conjoint), Professor Liz Ward (MSH Conjoint), Dr Elise Gane (Physio Conjoint), Dr Laurelie Wishart (Lecturer – Clinical Affiliate), Dr Bena Brown (Senior Lecturer – Clinical Affiliate) and Professor Paul Hodges.

“Overall, our staff were successful in attaining more than $570,000 in grant funds. Well done everyone!”
